Principles of Animation: Bouncing Ball with follow through animation

I did a follow-through exercise before during my BA but I have never applied it to bouncing ball before. After doing a rough planning, I finished my first trial.
My teacher told me that the tail looks odd and doesn’t have a snap like it should when the ball bounce onto the ground. Hence, following her advice, I tried again.
After tweaking here and there, I finally got an approval my teacher. Hence, I started walking on drawing my own character for the exercise.
My teacher pointed out that I should have another point of contact on the floor when the string hit it. Hence, I made another character and redid the exercise again based on her feedback,
After, we were asked to do another followthrough animation, so I thought of a baby that has movements of liquid.
I made the baby do a tiny little kick before it flips hit itself and hit the floor.
Reflection from class:
The first day of doing the exercise was really frustrating for me because I couldn’t perfect it like I wanted to and ended up spending hours trying to get the follow-through part right.
However, I got better on the second day of doing the exercise and felt like it is too complicated to do.
Overall, it was really enjoyable and I like seeing how I can apply the knowledge to my character and observe how different movements suggest their mood and personalities.
Character design class (19th of Oct): Shapes and Colour theory

During the online class, we were given multiple shapes so that we can design our characters based on that shapes.
I had a hard time designing the characters as I felt the exercise is quite restricted, yet at the same time, it helps me become more creative as I design characters that I am not familiar with myself.

We then moved on to designing characters based on our teacher’s old design.
I wanted to apply the idea of exaggerations and change of perspectives. Therefore, I ended up with many lovely characters that I really like.
Reflection from class:
I felt restricted at first because I wasn’t sure what to draw but after I can grasp the idea, I was able to design characters as I can normally do. I’m really happy with the results and can’t wait to develop them even more in the future.
Life drawing (20th October): Gestures drawing

Reflection from class:
I felt like I have improved compared to last week but still found it really hard to draw the beans of the model. However, it has become easier for me to locate the ribcage which helps increase the dimensions of the drawings.
Overall reflection week 4:
It was a stressful week where I need to redo a lot of my work. However, it wasn’t too hard to get through as I got the chance to push my creativity even further the more restricted I fell.
My aim next week is to improve upon my life drawing and locate the bean properly while also perfecting the upcoming 2D and 3D animation exercises.
